Today I Am Grateful For……..
Christmas is a time of joy of family, of joy and happiness and I am so blessed in all those areas. I spent Christmas with my love Des, I spoke with every member of my family, brother, my cousin, my nieces and nephews, my surrogate children and close friends. This year we decided to stay home and not get on the road to drive south. Christmas unfortunately in Australia experiences many death on te road, to date 42 peopel have died and we have only had 2 days of what in Australia is a week or more of holiday time.
This year we volunteered on Xmas Day at a lunch where hundreds of people who are alone or without family attend a free Christmas Dinner. This is a tradition in the Tweed and this was the 12th year. It is an amazing time and everyone receives not just lunch but a present. This year there was carol singing, Maori dancing and a Haka, Santa visited and each child received a present. We were also treated to an didgeridoo performane. What a treat. Each year all the presents, toys, food is donated, abundance.
There was so much joy for people who would normally be alone. I spent time with a couple who were without family for the first time, a challenge for them as they have 17 grandchildren.
